A Mixed Bag

Synopsis

A Mixed Bag sees a collection of short pieces, including three written by Cathouse Players members.Consensus by Helen Gramberg. Beth and Lola both work for the Bureau of Statistics. After hours they are going through the consensus forms they should be filing. With an eye for key details they turn these into a search for the profile of their perfect man. Assumptions are made with sarcasm to weed those out who don’t fit the bill. ‘The Interview’ by Ian Hart. The ‘me too’ movement is explored through an interview with Chelsea. Questions are asked and her social media profile explored to challenge her integrity. With the ruthlessness of circling sharks her potential employers circle. Who will come out the winner? Thank you God by Alan Stone. An obnoxious husband insists his long suffering wife push his wheelchair up to Lovers Leap. When the leap comes true we can all say 'thank you God.' The Boy Comes Home by A.A. Milne. Set immediately after WW1, Philip returns to the home of his Aunt Emily and Uncle James. Four years have passed and Uncle James is of the belief that Phillip is still a boy whose direction in life can be dictated to. During that time and with the horrors Philip has experienced what will it take for Uncle James to realise the ‘the boy’ has returned not only as a man but also determined to be heard. Catherine Parr by Maurice Baring. Set at their breakfast table King Henry VIII is determined that only his recollection of Alexander the Great’s horse can be correct. To his horror his last wife, Queen Catherine Parr is just as determined to point out that his recollection is in fact wrong!
